Survival of the Few

€ 9,17

Synopsis:
This is the tail of a small band of Welsh mountain sheep caught up in the foot and mouth crisis on the Welsh hills during 2001 in the UK. Facing imminent slaughter, they take action to escape their inevitable capture. Aided by their good friend Shadow the sheepdog, they escape the hills and seek refuge in the forest below. Two of the group break away and travel south facing cold, hunger and an uncertain future on a quest for help, but what they experience will change their view of the world forever.
About the Author:
My name is Francis Edward Roberts. I have a life-long love of wildlife and am a winner of the Red Kite award for achievements in studies. I have worked on many field projects across the UK. During the foot and mouth crisis of 2001, I was employed as a wildlife field surveyor by the British government and witnessed the slaughter of many thousands of stock and wild animals. No longer working in the field has given me an opportunity to reflect on the way that creatures themselves might regard such violent actions against them if they could only tell us. My love of wildlife continues with a better appreciation for our duty of care for all creatures.
