Italian warships of World War II

Productinformatie

Little has been published in English about the ships of the Italian Navy during World War II, and this comprehensive volume, fully detailing vessels in every class, fills the gap. The fullest attainable photographic representation is included for each type; many of the pictures were actually taken during engagement.
The information has been authoritatively compiled from wartime experience and postwar research, by Aldo Fraccaroli, a Reserve officer in the Italian Navy, who began collecting naval information and photographs in 1932, at the age of 12. Since 1939 he has been a contributor to Jane's Fighting Ships (the 1950-51 issue published his Special Supplement on Italian naval construction, 1939-1945) and since 1938 to Les Flottes cie Combat-, later also to the German Flottentas- chenbuch and to the Swedish Marinkalender.
By 1948 he was contributing to the Italian Navy Rivista Marit- tima and to other journals, chiefly naval or maritime magazines. He is the author of technical and historical books on ships, especially warships. He translated A. B. Cunningham’s A Sailor's Odyssey into Italian and owns a collection of some 42,000 naval photographs, 14,000 of which he actually took from 1933 onwards.
He is a member of several naval societies, including Aldebaran, the Belgian Nautical Research Association, Mariponave, the Naval Photograph Club, the Naval Records Club, and the World Ship Society. He is also an associate member of United States Naval Institute.
