Coming of age in Coney Island during the turbulent sixties, Amie is the third generation of a Jewish family who have all lived in Coney Island at one time or another, dating back to the early 1900s. While her parents generation cling to the values and beliefs of the generation before them, Amie's frustration and rebellion with everything they stand for is evident.
