Bend it Like Beckham tells the tale of 18 year old Jessminder 'Jess' Bhamra. Jess is infatuated with football but her family will not allow her to play due to their religion. When she meets Jules, another girl who has a great passion for football they become friends straight away and begin to play football together. When Jules notices Jess' incredible skill for football she persuades her to enter the football team. This film focuses on Jess' progression in football and the problems she deals with as she rebels against her parents' traditionalism.
